PHARMACY WILL BE SORELY MISSED
Date: 1-Jul-2007
Author: Craig Hagen
In 2000, I was a newcomer to Pinckney Community Schools, teaching science to seventh- and eighth-graders at Pathfinder School.
The subject of science often requires students to procure materials for projects. At this time, I had not become acquainted with the cornucopia of merchandise on hand at Pinckney Pharmacy.
No matter what students seemed to need for their class projects, from poster boards to a "flux capacitor," they would always say, "I can get that at Pinckney Pharmacy."
I had to check this place out for myself. Sure enough, if you needed it, the pharmacy had it. And, if, for some reason, it didn't have a needed item or was out, the courteous employees would go out of their way to see that you got it.
We will miss Pinckney Phar-macy and all the folks who made it a special, one-of-a-kind place. Thank you for supporting the students, teachers and the entire community in Pinckney.
The second part of my thank- you concerns the outstanding support and compassion that the pharmacy staff showed Pinckney's teachers.
In order to help the school district save money on health-care coverage, Pinckney's teachers agreed to a plan that had never been tried in Pinckney before; one that was offered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
To make a long story short, there were and continue to be problems with the prescription debit card that we use for our prescriptions. When a card was denied by the debit card company for some nebulous reason unknown by all, the pharmacists and counter staff at Pinckney Pharmacy bent over backward to help out.
On behalf of the teaching staff of Pinckney Community Schools, I offer my sincere thanks for helping our teachers adjust to a new and sometimes unsettling prescription program.
