PHARMACY AUTOMATION LEADER TALYST REPORTS AGGRESSIVE GROWTH IN FIRST HALF OF 2007, WITH 250+ HOSPITALS SERVED
Date: 25-Jun-2007
Pharmacy automation specialist Talyst reports that it continues its aggressive growth, now serving more than 250 hospitals across the United States. In the first five months of the year, Talyst signings included leading medical centers, as well as integrated delivery networks.

Talyst is demonstrating its suite of central pharmacy packaging, labeling, inventory and storage solutions at the Summer Meeting and Exhibition of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists, this week in San Francisco (Moscone West Convention Center, booth 146).

"Barcoded medications are a step closer to becoming the standard of care, and we are one of the most accomplished companies at quickly, smoothly implementing barcoding and inventory management," explains James E. Torina, chairman and chief executive officer.

"By collaborating with pharmacists, we have developed 'intelligent pharmacy' software and materials-handling equipment that link key elements in the pharmacy supply chain and communicate with hospital data systems. Remaining focused on the central pharmacy, we are excited about the next generation of products already under development that will continue to propel our growth," Torina added.

To meet the increasing demand for products and services, Talyst has expanded, particularly in product implementation and support, and product engineering. As of June 1, the company's staffing topped 170 people.

"Our commitment to customer service has been the catalyst for our growth and reflects our intent to deliver the highest levels of implementation and product support in the industry," noted Torina.

"Hospital directors of pharmacy are always seeking ways to add safety and efficiency to their operations," said Gary Johnson, Pharm D, MHA, vice president of Pharmacy Practice Solutions. "Our approach, in which the automation is driven by AutoPharm inventory software, unifies workflow, while ensuring compatibility with other hospital information systems."

In the last year, Talyst milestones and recognitions have included:

-- $20 million in growth funding, co-led by Ignition Partners and OVP Venture Partners

-- Fast Company magazine's "Fast 50 Reader Favorites" list, honoring innovative, progressive enterprises

-- One of the state's Fastest-Growing Private Companies as ranked by the Puget Sound Business Journal for the second consecutive year, reflecting a doubling in year-over-year revenue

-- "Emerging Business of the Year" in the Eastside Business Awards, sponsored by the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce

-- Relocation to larger corporate offices and the opening of a separate Technology Center for testing and staging its systems

-- Jim Torina, CEO, named a regional finalist in the 2007 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards
