FIVE MORE TRADITIONAL MEDICINES FOUND TO CONTAIN SCHEDULED POISON

The Health Ministry has advised members of the public to refrain from using five traditional medicine products as they are found to be containing "sildenafil analog" which can cause side effects to consumers.
Pharmacy Services Senior Director Datuk Che Mohd Zin Che Awang said four of the products are manufactured by Maxi Herbs Sdn Bhd namely ML Spring Returns, ML Viraken capsule, Epimedi Plus capsule 400mg and Tibulus Plus capsule 400mg.
Another product is Primax, produced by Le Fa medical Supplies (M) Sdn Bhd, he said in a statement.
He said the products' registration had been cancelled by the Drug Control Authority as the use of sildenafil or sildenafil analog was not allowed in traditional medicines.
"Medicine with sildenafil contain can only be obtained on doctor's prescription," he said.
The use of medicine containing sildenafil without monitoring by doctors could cause side effects such as low blood pressure and other cardiovascular complications.
"Those with stock of the products are advised to immediately stop the sale, distribution and consumption," he said.
